The accident happened just before 7 a.m. near Elk Lick Road and involved a car and a pick-up truck that was pulling a tractor on a trailer, according to Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.  The driver of the car was airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital with what are reported to be non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the sheriff's office in a press release, the driver of the pick-up, a 40-year-old man from Maryland, was not injured in the crash. He was charged with failure to yield the right of way.

Neither driver has been identified.

Eastbound Route 50 was closed before Loudoun County Parkway for some time. Then one lane was reopened. Around 8:40 a.m., eastbound lanes were reopened.

Route 50 westbound was closed near South Riding for some time but reopened after the Medevac left the scene.

The sheriff's office says that the truck was at a stop sign waiting to turn onto Route 50. The driver pulled out into the roadway in front of the car. The car driver, a 64-year-old Aldie, VA man, struck the trailer portion of the vehicle, says the sheriff's office.
