WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- Another mega deal was announced in the tech world.

Microsoft will buy Nokia.

The software giant will pay about $5 billion to acquire the mobile phone company.

Nokia already makes the Windows smartphone for Microsoft, but the second largest mobile phone manufacturer has struggled with sales.

The deal moves Microsoft closer to contenders Apple and and Samsung.
