(WKYC) -- Is this the end of BlackFriday?

With the majority of big box stores now opening on Thanksgiving Day, the mad rush will be much smaller on Black Friday.

The blue light goes on at KMart at 6 a.m. Thanksgiving Day and doors won't close until 10 p.m. Friday.

Sears opens at 8 on Turkey night and stays open until 10 on Friday. Toys R Us has announced it will be open at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving. Other stores opening on Thanksgiving include Kohl's and JCPenney as well as Walmart.

Even Thanksgiving giant, Macy's, has announced it will open on Thanksgiving for the first time in 155 years.

So, why is the traditional start of the holiday shopping season creeping up and now beginning on Thanksgiving itself?

Hitha Prabhakar, a retail analyst says, "We're a society that likes to spend so no matter what. Consumers will sacrifice to go in and get the best deal possible. It doesn't matter if that deal is coming in June and July or a national holiday such as Thanksgiving."
