ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ (WUSA) -- Boats were scattered across the pier, like a child's toys in his bedroom.

Seeing the boats tossed around like this, makes you realize just how strong the waves and storm surge really are.

9 News's Bruce Johnson went to Atlantic Highlands, NJ, to see what kind of destruction Super-storm Sandy left behind in that small beach town.

He saw rich people's boats, as well as poor people's, thrown around on the pier.

One of the boats, "Integrity," used to be owned by the late, great journalist Walter Cronkite.

John Ameche, former captain of the town's police force and current harbor master said he's never seen anything like this.

"We have no electricity, no phone, no internet service, so we don't have any way to let the owners of the boats know what happened," Ameche said.
