WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA9) -- After months of campaigning and negative campaign ads, Tuesday it's all up to the voters to pick Virginia's new governor. They must choose between Tea Party favorite and state attorney general Ken Cuccinelli and businessman and former Democratic Party Chairman Terry McAuliffe.

There is also a third party candidate, Libertarian Robert Sarvis,
who is expected to claim ten percent of the vote.

Terry McAuliffe was in Woodbridge around 5:15 a.m. to greet voters as they began their day. Polls show the Democrat had a lead, but this all important race comes down to voter turnout. The turnout is typically low in a midterm election but some analysts say heading out to the polls could make this tighter. Despite all the local, important issues, the race seems to be coming down to the Tea Party and Obamacare.

Some people we spoke to Tuesday morning said that they won't be voting at all. They said they were frustrated with the process and with the attack ads they have been seeing.

The Commonwealth voting sites run from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. but anyone standing in line at 7 will be allowed to vote.
