WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Early next year the D.C. Council is expected to once again take up the issue of increasing the minimum wage.
D.C. Councilman and mayoral candidate Tommy Wells plans to introduce a new bill which would increase the city's minimum wage from $8.25 to $10.25. The increase would be implemented within the next year and a half.
Wells is confident a minimum-wage hike will pass the council.
The bill also calls for separate tax breaks which would give relief to small businesses who would pay workers more.
