WASHINGTON (AP) - An attorney for a D.C. police officer accused of threatening Michelle Obama says his client was cleared of administrative charges but found guilty of derogatory remarks on social media.

The Washington Post reports that the departmental review board recommended that Christopher Picciano, a member of the presidential motorcade detail, be suspended without pay for conduct unbecoming an officer. Attorney James Pressler said Monday that Picciano is weighing an appeal. The city sought to have the officer fired.

Another officer reported a comment Picciano made last year. The U.S. Attorney's office agreed with the Secret Service that Picciano was not serious about his comment, but the investigation turned up unrelated social media postings that raised questions, including a communist emblem superimposed over a campaign poster for President Obama.
