RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - George Mason University has been chosen as the site of the new Virginia Center for Excellence in Teaching.
Gov. Bob McDonnell said Monday that the center will conduct residential summer academies for 100 exemplary teachers in 2014. Twenty-five teachers will attend each of four academies.
Science, technology, engineering and mathematics subjects will be the focus of one academy in June. Another June academy will focus on humanities and language arts. Fine arts and interdisciplinary studies will be the focus of two academies in July.
