ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA9) -- If you're planning on driving along the I-395/95 corridor this weekend, then you may want to take note: there will be major road closures from the Washington D.C. line to Garrisonville Road (Route 610) in Stafford County.
Here's a list of the closures from VDOT:
I-395/95 HOV Lanes-- All HOV lanes on I-395/95 will close beginning Friday at 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. Monday. Drivers should use the "general purpose" lanes between the D.C. line and Dumfries instead, say officials.
I-95 South at Exit 143 -- All lanes will close Friday and Saturday nights on I-95 south just before Marine Corps Base Quantico (MCBQ) Russell Road, Exit 143 to Garrisonville Road (Route 610), Exit 148, say officials. Traffic will be detoured to U.S. Route 1. Officials say lanes will begin closing on both nights at 9:30 p.m. with all lanes closed between 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.
During this time, crews will lift steel beams for a new bridge to carry traffic from the future 95 Express Lanes in the median to the right side of I-95 south, just north of the Garrisonville Road (Route 610) exit, according to officials.
When all lanes on I-95 are closed, I-95 southbound traffic will be directed to Exit 148, MCBQ, Russell Road east, to U.S. Route 1 south, to Garrisonville Road (Route 610), and back to I-95 south. One lane on U.S. Route 1 south will also be closed before Russell Road to accommodate detour traffic, say officials.
