MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA9) --  Police are investigating after a woman was shot during her child's soccer game on Sunday evening.

According to police, a Gainesville woman was sitting in a chair watching the game at George Hellwig Memorial Park on Bristow Road in Manassas when she felt a sharp pain to her right thigh.  She told police that she though she was  struck with a BB or other type projectile.

When the woman was taken to the hospital, it was discovered that she was actually struck with a small caliber bullet, possibly a .22 round, say police. Her injury is non life-threatening.

Police say no one they talked to heard a gunshot or saw a weapon at the game.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
