JEFFERSONTOWN, Ky. (The Louisville, Ky. Courier-Journal) -- A woman driving a pickup caused serious damage to a Krispy Kreme store Monday when she careened through the building.

Jeffersontown Police Sgt. Brian Colebank said the 72-year-old driver had pulled her red Ford F-150 truck into a parking spot at the doughnut shop when the accident happened.

"She went to hit the brake and may have mistakenly hit the gas pedal instead," Colebank said.

John Heffley and Bob Cross had walked out of the shop seconds before the accident.

"We were sitting inside, having a doughnut and coffee ... we got up ... as we were walking out the door, the truck came plowing through and the door was on top of me," said Heffley, who sustained cuts from shattered glass and debris.

The front of the building was destroyed in the accident and the store will be closed indefinitely, said Ted Braun, the Krispy Kreme's general manager.

The driver of the red Ford F-150 involved in the accident was treated at the scene, Colebank said.

The name of the driver, who was not injured, was not released. Her son, Troy Holder, said his mother had gone to buy doughnuts.

"She called me and said she was in an accident and when I get here and see this ... it's a miracle from God that no one was seriously hurt," he said.
