The Kilmer Family gets the kids ready for school

ROCKVILLE, Md. (WUSA) -- It can be tough and chaotic for parents to get their children ready for school in the morning. But the Kilmer family from Rockville might make you think you've got it easy.

Larry and Jen Kilmer have 11 children ages 1 to 12 years old.
Mom and dad's wake up call is 5 a.m.
The laundry, school clothes are laid out
and bag lunches are packed before the kids wake up.

Dad fits in a quick work out.

"This is the only time to do it or else I'll be too tired."
Around 6:10 a.m. the kids start waking up.
They get breakfast and and pack their backpacks.
There are some last minute homework to touch up and they're ready to go.

Jen says, "not every day runs smoothly."
The family calendar is usually jammed packed. They're celebrating 4 birthdays in September all within 8 days. Each child is tasked with a chore on the family Kilmer team job chart to keep them organized.

Jen says, "It's a maintenance program it keeps us all sane."
Christina at 12 years old is the eldest. She's like a second mom. "That's what my mom tells me. It teaches me good leadership skills. And cooking and cleaning is fun not a job."

Jen goes to 6:30 mass while dad finishes getting ready. When Jen comes home he takes three of the boys to school with him where he teaches math and coaches.

Larry says, "It started happening and here they come. I wouldn't have it any other way. It's not only a blessing to have them but a blessing how great they are."

By 8 a.m. mom gets the rest of her children ready for school.

Larry says, "People mistake us for a daycare all the time."
Here are some Kilmer team stats:
7 boys, 4 girls
2 1/2 bathrooms
5 bedrooms
One refrigerator
They go through 2 gallons of milk
and 2 loaves of bread a day.
They'll spend at least $300 dollars a week on groceries.

Jen Kilmer, 45 years old, says more children are not out of the question. She comes from a family of 9 siblings. One of her sisters beats her by two children...she's got 13.
Larry Kilmer, 53 years old, was adopted and only had a sister growing up.
None of the couple's children are twins but none of them are more than a year old.
