Andre Walter Williams charged after trying to run away from Police

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (WUSA9) -- A man was arrested and charged after attempting to elude authorities. 

Andre Walter Williams, 46 was driving a 2001 Ford Windstar minivan on Day Road, off of Dual Highway, when he was stopped by Police. That's when officials saw that Williams had an open arrest warrant by Baltimore Police. When Police asked to him get out of the vehicle, he fled. He then left his vehicle and started running. At one point, he entered a residents garage and tried to steal the person's car which was occupied by a small child. He was then arrested. Police also found the drug paraphernalia in his clothing. 

Williams has been charged with numerous traffic and criminal offenses, included fleeing and eluding, assault, attempted motor vehicle theft, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment, possession of drug paraphernalia and numerous license/ registration violations, police said.
