WELCOME, Md. (WUSA9) -- Charles County Sheriff's Office officials say an officer was assaulted by a 51-year-old man on drugs.
On January 2 around 7 p.m., police responded to a house in the area of Dashing Place for the report of a man who had overdosed on drugs, officials said.
Police say they found a man with bloody hands in an agitated state. He refused orders by the officers and took up a fighting stance, officials said.
Officers say they attempted to arrest the man but he resisted and fought them.
After a struggle, the man was subdued and taken into custody. He was transported to a hospital for an evaluation.
