9 taken to hospital after accident in Montgomery Co.

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- Montgomery County police tell us that 9 people were taken to the hospital after a car accident in Gaithersburg Wednesay evening.

Montgomery County Fire spokesperson Scott Graham says crews are on the scene at Great Seneca Highway near Horn Point Drive.

Police and fire officials say the call came in for a two-vehicle accident at 4:46 p.m.

An officer at the scene said an 18-year-old driver with a 15-year-old passenger crossed the median for unknown reasons and hit a minivan head-on. Four adults and four children were inside the minivan.

We're told the 18-year-old driver stayed on the scene to answer questions. the 15-year-old was transported to the hospital.

We are told none of the injuries are life threatening.

Great Seneca Highway is currently closed at Horn Point Drive.
