LEXINGTON PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Authorities are investigating after an officer shot a man while responding to a domestic assault on Monday morning.
According to St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office authorities at 6:30 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a home in Lexington Park for a domestic assault in progress involving a person armed with a knife. Officers went inside the home and encountered a man, say authorities. During the encounter, one officer shot the man.
The man was flown to Prince George's Shock Trauma with non-life threatening wounds. Authorities say none of the officers were injured.
Authorities have not released the address of the incident but say they will release more information later.
