FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- The State's Attorney for Frederick County says a Pennsylvania man has pleaded guilty to stealing money from a SunTrust Bank employee and then leading police on a chase.

Thirty-seven-year-old James Raymond VanWinkle of Greencastle, Pa. pleaded guilty to one count of felony theft and one count fleeing and eluding on Monday.  On March 13, VanWinkle walked into the SunTrust on Rosemont Avenue, walked up to an employee who was counting money on the cashier's counter, reached over the counter and took the money. Authorities say VanWinkle left with $2,000.

VanWinkle's white car was followed by police after he refused to stop. He was chased through city streets and highways before the Maryland State Police Aviation Unit found his car empty behind Black Hog BBQ & Bar in downtown Frederick, say authorities.

VanWinkle was found later that month in South Carolina. He was transported to Frederick on April 8.
