HERNDON, Va. (WUSA) - Fairfax County Police say they have positively identified the woman's body found inside a vehicle Wednesday morning as that of Erika Yancey, 22, who had been missing the past 2 days. Her car was found early this morning in a parking lot on Sunrise Valley Dr. about a half-mile from the Herndon apartment where she had been living with a friend.
Officials tell 9NEWS NOW Yancey's 2007 Hyundai Elantra was found around 2 a.m. Wednesday in a parking lot of a business in the 13700 block of Sunrise Valley Dr. in Herndon. Fairfax County detectives responded to the scene and they say the investigation is now a murder case. She had been stabbed.
Yancy was last seen in the area of the Dulles Airport the evening of November 16th. Police were notified of Yancy's disappearance Monday when they were called to her apartment complex on Dulles Station Boulevard after a property manager discovered a blood trail leading from the parking lot to a dumpster.
Police sources tell 9NEWS NOW they have good leads to pursue in the investigation.
