ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA9) -- A woman suffered non-life threatening injuries in a fire at a townhouse in Fairfax County on Thursday evening.
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department officials say firefighters responded to a fire at approximately 5:30 p.m. in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County at 6533 Gildar Street.
Officials say firefighters saw smoke coming from the rear of the home. Inside, they encountered smoke and fire in the basement. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in a matter of minutes.
Officials tell us there was one injury. A woman was transported to Washington Hospital Center for non-life threating injuries, say officials.
The fire left behind an estimated $75,000 in damage.
Officials are trying to determine the cause of the fire.
