WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Metrorail will open two hours early on Sunday for the Marine Corps Marathon.
Metro officials say participants should use the Pentagon Station on the Blue and Yellow lines to get to the start line.
Additional Blue Line trains between Franconia-Springfield and Stadium-Armory will run from 5 a.m to 8:15 a.m. and from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Arlington Cemetery Station will not open until 8:30 a.m., after the marathon has started. Officials say the station should only be used to get to the finish line or to leave the event after the race.
Metro recommends using a SmarTrip card to speed up your trip and says to load your card before the event to avoid lines.
The Pentagon Bus Terminal will be closed from 4 a.m. until approximately 4 p.m., and service will be relocated to the Pentagon City station.
The Rosslyn Bus Terminal will be closed from 4 a.m. until approximately 6 p.m., and service will be relocated to Oak Street.
The additional two hours of service is funded through an agreement with event organizers. For more information, please visit MarineMarathon.com.
