LEXINGTON PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Authorities say a man who had returned to a home to assault a victim and a child and was shot by a deputy is being held without bond.

St. Mary's County authorities say Wednesday, a bench warrant for failure to obey a court order was issued for John Otha Dickens Jr. They tell us the original bond in both cases was revoked.

Dickens is being held without bail at the St. Mary's County Detention Center, according to authorities.

Authorities say Dickens assaulted a woman at a home on Bristol Avenue in Lexington Park on Sunday. He was arrested and charged with second degree assault. Authorities say he was later released from the detention center on a $7,5000 bond and ordered to not have any contact with the victim.

The next day at 6:30 a.m., authorities say Dickens went back to the home and assaulted the victim with a knife. Authorities also say that he threatened her with a gun and cut a 5-year-old child with a knife. Deputies responded to the home and heard a woman screaming from a bedroom, say authorities. They later found Dickens, who reportedly refused their orders to stop assaulting the victim. Authorities say a deputy then shot Dickens.

Dickens was taken to Prince George's Hospital Center, treated for his injuries, and released, say authorities.

Dickens was charged with 3 counts of Assault 1st Degree, 3 counts of Assault 2nd Degree, according to authorities. He was incarcerated but again released on $5,000 bond pending further action by the courts, say authorities. That bond was later revoked.
