Suspicious substance found at National Zoo

The National Zoological Park is a site the whole family can enjoy, says AAA: 'Giant pandas Mei Xiang and Tian Tian, a roughly 65-year-old Asian elephant named Ambika, friendly giraffes, entertaining prairie dogs as well as the Kids' Farm donkeys, goats and rabbits are some of the popular zoo residents. WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- DC Police have a person in custody at the Smithsonian's National Zoo after spreading a white powder substance on the floor of the reptile house, police say. 

The hazardous chemical unit of the DC Fire and EMS Department is on the scene to determine if the substance is dangers, the DC Fire Dept. said. 

Officials say there is no indication on why the person spread the substance in the reptile house. 

We'll have more information as it become available.
