Police: 8 students injured at Md. High School

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Police say as many as 8 students have been injured in a pedestrian incident at a High School in Hyattsville.

The incident happened at Northwestern High School located in the 7000 block of Adelphi Road when a car came into the parking lot, failed to stop and hit 8 kids. 

The injuries appear to be non-life threatening, police said. 

The driver of the car, a 19-year-old Mount Rainier resident was not speeding but has been charged with multiple counts of 'negligent driving and failure to control his vehicle.' The driver hit the students when they were standing in formation outside for practicing drills with the Naval Junior ROTC, officials said.

All families have been notified of the incident.
