Rockville, Md. (WUSA9) -- A new cancer center in Montgomery County is changing the way patients go through treatment.
The Aquilino Cancer Center is the newest addition to the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville.
Patients are guided through the entire process, from diagnosis to outpatient treatments to support groups.
The facility is Maryland's first full-service cancer center. Typically, a cancer diagnosis means trips to multiple doctors and locations. But, the new center puts everything under one roof.
Radiation Oncologist, Dr. Don Bridges says, "It makes things more consistent with the patients from the time they're diagnosed until they get their treatment, and then after the treatment's done, their follow ups."
"So it can all be done effectively in one facility," adds Dr. Bridges.
Cancer research will also be part of the new center. The grand opening is November 7th.
