WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- There's more to recovering from breast cancer surgery than getting rest while the incisions heal.
Those battling the sometimes deadly disease have to figure out how to maneuver in the shower around their drainage line.
A breast cancer survivor found a stylish way to allow survivors to shower with dignity.
Cancer survivor Lisa Crites is the inventor of the shower shirt.
She says before she came up with the shower shirt she had to take a shower in garbage bags to keep her bandages and drainage tube dry.
As an added benefit, Crites says the shower shirt can be passed on to a friend or use it as a regular outdoor jacket.
Crites spoke with 9NEWS NOWs Andrea Roane with this special Buddy Check 9.
