Landon Azalea Festival
The first weekend in May is usually when the Landon Azalea Festival is held. This year marks the sixtieth year. The Festival runs today through Sunday, 10 AM - 5 PM. Admission is free and the proceeds benefit the Student Financial Assistance and Faculty Enrichment. Landon School for Boys is located at 6101 Wilson Lane in Bethesda. Take the beltway and exit at River Road (190) go east toward Town and turn left onto Wilson Lane. The school is on your left. Believe it or not Landon has the most varieties of azaleas on the East Coast. You can purchase azaleas and other plants for your garden all for a good cause. Landon invites you to just walk the fifty acre campus and take in the sights and sounds of spring. Live music will be provided by the students all weekend in the Arts center and on the quad. Make sure you stroll through the Perkins Garden. Bring your camera you could capture a great family portrait. There is plenty to do. The Azalea Festival always means a ton of great food, a moon bounce and a climbing wall for all to enjoy. My first and second daughters enjoyed their first taste of ice cream at the Festival. At this writing the weekend looks great with lots of sunshine and average temperatures with highs around seventy. Remember the sunscreen.
