Washington, DC (Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Kings were honored by President Barack Obama at the White House for their 2012 Stanley Cup triumph on Tuesday.

The Kings were joined at the White House by the Major League Soccer champions, the Los Angeles Galaxy.

President Obama honored the Kings and Galaxy not only for their respective title runs, but also for their involvement in the community.

"We also found out that both these teams are full of some pretty stand-up players and coaches," President Obama said. "They're out in the community year-round. They're changing lives, they're making a difference."

The Kings defeated the New Jersey Devils in six games this past June to capture the first championship in franchise history.
