Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - Travis Bader scored a game-high 29 points
and pulled down eight rebounds as he helped guide the Oakland Golden Grizzlies
to an 86-74 win over the UMKC Kangaroos in Summit League action at Swinney
Drew Valentine accounted for 17 points for the Golden Grizzlies (15-13, 10-4
Summit), followed by Ryan Bass and Corey Petros with 16 and 12 points,
respectively, in the team's seventh consecutive victory.
The Kangaroos (7-21, 4-10), losers of two straight and seven of the last eight
outings, were paced by Nelson Kirksey with 18 points, Thomas Staton added 17
and Estan Tyler 11 points in the setback.
Oakland not only knocked down 53.1 percent from the floor in the first half,
the visitors also made good on 8-of-14 from 3-point range in the period in
order to take a 45-28 lead at the break.
In the second half the Kangaroos showed signs of life by hitting on 62.1
percent from the floor, but the Grizzlies maintained their distance by hitting
on 19-of-26 at the free-throw line over the final 20 minutes of action.
Oakland outscored the hosts by a 22-9 margin at the charity stripe.
