Mount Pleasant, MI (Sports Network) - Nathan Boothe went 8-of-11 from the
field to net 19 points as the Toledo Rockets defeated the Central Michigan
Chippewas, 73-64, in a Mid-American Conference clash at McGuirk Arena.
Rian Pearson registered a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds for
Toledo (12-11, 8-4 MAC) while Julius Brown contributed 13 points, eight
assists and six boards. Dominique Buckley also got into the mix with 10 points
for the Rockets, who completed the season series sweep and collected their
sixth win in seven games.
Kyle Randall poured in a game-high 21 points on 6-of-17 shooting from the
floor for CMU (9-16, 2-10), which also received 12 points and four assists
from Chris Fowler. Olivier Mbaigoto and Blake Hibbitts netted 11 points each,
but the Chippewas were not able to avoid their eighth loss in a row.
Both sides shot just under 38 percent from the floor in the first half as the
contest went into the intermission tied up at 31.
The Chippewas cooled off after the break to hit on just 28 percent of their
field goal tries. Toledo managed to sink 14-of-26 from the field in the second
stanza to go ahead by a double-digit margin before it settled for the nine-
