NEW ORLEANS, La. (USA TODAY)--If using out-of-date juvenile slurs was Joe Flacco's plan to combat all these stories about how dull he is, then, uh, mission accomplished?
The Baltimore Ravens quarterback was at a Super Bowl press conference on Monday when he was asked about the NFL playing next year's Super Bowl outdoors in New Jersey.
"Yeah, I think it's retarded," Flacco said in response to the question.
Dude, come up with some new adjectives. You're not a ninth-grade quarterback anymore. I'm sure Ray Lewis would be all too happy to lend you the thesaurus he uses while coming up with his weekly pregame speech.
To his credit, Flacco quickly realized his mistake.
"I probably shouldn't say that. I think it's stupid. If you want a Super Bowl, put a retractable dome on your stadium. Then you can get one. Other than that I don't really like the idea. I don't think people would react very well to it, or be glad to play anybody in that kind of weather."
