WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Washington Redskins head coach, Mike Shanahan, persists that he does not know the severity of Quarterback Robert Griffin III's injury, in a news conference on Monday.

"I believe we made the right decision to leave him in," Shanahan said.

Fans witnessed their hero, RGIII, visibly limping and in pain during Sunday's loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

WUSA9's Dave Owens asked Mike Shanahan about the day RGIII suffered his knee injury, in a game against the Baltimore Ravens. He asked about the mis-communication with team doctor, Dr. James Andrews.

Coach Shanahan says there was no communication issue, that he asked if Griffin III was "OK."

Dr. Andrews answered: "Yes he's OK," Shanahan said. "That's why I put him back in. When you see a guy running around on the sideline, you don't think he's injured."

The USA Today released a report, on Sunday, that RGIII had not been medically cleared to play after hurting his knee in the Ravens game.

Shanahan said he didn't ask, in depth, about whether or not the doctor examined RGIII, he simply asked: "Is he OK?"

Griffin III is due to be evaluated by the team physician tomorrow.
