Manufacturer Recalls Millions Of Window Shades

SILVER SPRING, Md., (WUSA) -- Smith and Noble is recalling 1.3 million roman shades and roller shades after a 5 year old boy nearly strangled on a cord in May 2009.

The shades were sold through the company's website and catalogue from 1998 through April of this year.

CPSC Roman Shade And Roller Shade Recall

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission one child each month is strangled by window cords.   And, 120 children have strangled on window cord blinds since in the U.S. since 1999. 

The CPSC is pushing for international safety standards for all blind manufacturers.
