WASHINGTON (AP) - Early voting is suspended in the District of Columbia because of the approach of Hurricane Sandy.

The D.C. Board of Elections says it made the decision to close its voting sites Monday to protect voters and election workers, but more announcements will be made throughout the day.

Officials in Maryland also suspended early voting.

Voters will be able to cast ballots at any of eight voting centers throughout the city once early voting resumes.
