FAIRFAX, Va. (WUSA9) -- A 60-year-old Alexandria man was struck by a police cruiser on Tuesday, police say.
According to police, the man crossed the southbound lanes of Richmond Highway at about 2 p.m. and did not use the crosswalk.
"A marked police car was traveling south in the left turn lanes on Richmond Highway when...the man stepped in front of the police vehicle and was struck," police said in a press release.
The man was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital with non life-threatening injuries, police said.
The incident is under investigation. The officer was not hurt.
