Centreville robbery outside coffee shop, police seeking suspect

CENTREVILLE, Va. (WUSA9) -- Police are investigating a robbery that happened at the Old Centreville Crossing Shopping Center.

A 44-year-old woman was leaving a coffee shop on Thursday at around 4:30 p.m. when a man was waiting at her car, police said.

She noticed him when she got in the car. He took out a gun and made her open the door and hand over her purse, police said.

The suspect fled the scene and there were no injuries, police said.

"The suspect is described as white, in his 20s, with a reddish scruffy beard. He was approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighed between 160 and 180 pounds. He wore a black shirt and gray sweatpants," police said in a news release.
