ASHBURN, Va. (WUSA9) -- Monday night, a West Virginia man was charged with DUI after a crash that injured another driver on Route 7 in Loudoun County.
According to sheriff's office authorities, at 9:40 p.m. Monday 51-year-old Marvin Byrd of Ashburn was driving a Volkswagen Jetta and turned from northbound Lexington Drive onto eastbound Route 7. Twenty-five-year-old Joshua Nicewarner of Harpers Ferry, WV was driving a Hyundai Tuscon eastbound on Route 7 when he struck the driver's side of the Volkswagen, accoridng to authorities.
Authorities say the Volkswagen went off the right side of the road and hit a highway sign. Meanwhile, the Hyundai rolled onto its left side before coming back onto its wheels.
Byrd was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, say authorities. Authorities said on Friday that Byrd was released from the hospital.
Nicewarner was charged with DUI.
Authorities say the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
