62-year-old Herndon resident hit by vehicle at intersection

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A pedestrian is in the hospital for serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle at an intersection today, police said.

On April 16, 2013 at approximately 10:24 p.m., police responded to the intersection of Van Buren Street and Elden Street regarding a report of an accident involving a car and a pedestrian, according to the Herndon Police Department.

A 62-year-old Herndon resident, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, police said.

According to a preliminary investigation, the vehicle was traveling west bound on Elden Street when the pedestrian entered the crosswalk against a do not walk light, officials said. No charges have been filed at this time.
