WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- It was 35 years ago on Saturday when Washington D.C. saw its first and only NBA title.
Back then they were called the Washington Bullets, and now more than three decades after the victorious season the team is being honored.
Wes Unseld and Elvin Hayes are among the members of the championship team that attended the halftime ceremony in Saturday's game between the Wizards and Pacers.
The team was introduced to a rock stars welcome as they unveiled a news championship banner that now hangs from the Verizon Center rafters.
The 1977-78 Bullets team defeated the Seattle SuperSonics in the seventh game of the NBA Finals on June 6, 1978.
A parade through the city ending at RFK Stadium took place following the final game back in 1978.
