ASHBURN, Va. (WUSA9) -- Loudoun County Sheriff's Office officials say a teenage girl who was practicing driving with her dad in the car when she hit 3 little girls was issued a juvenile petition for reckless driving on Tuesday.
One of the girls was critically injured and is still in the hospital, reports Peggy Fox.
On March 14, authorities say a 15-year-old girl with a learner's permit hit a seven-year-old girl, an eight-year-old girl and a 10-year-old girl while practicing driving with her father in a neighborhood. She had turned the corner from Red Admiral onto Morvan Woods Court and authorities said that she apparently hit the accelerator instead of the brake. The car went up an angled curb and hit girls who were playing in the driveway, say authorities, before stopping in the woods at the end of a cul-de-sac.
The seven-year-old girl was critically injured and had to be airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital, say authorities. The other girls suffered minor injuries and were treated and released from Lansdowne Campus of Inova Hospital, say authorities.
