WHITE OAK, Va. (WUSA9) -- The Stafford Sheriff's Office says they have recovered human remains over the weekend, after reports of buried bodies on a property in White Oak.
Sheriff's Maj. David Decatur first told WUSA9 on Thursday, that deputies arrived at the 800 block of Belle Plains Road on March 16 to execute an arrest warrant for 58-year-old Dennis Paul Benzie for meth distribution.
After the arrest officials began receiving numerous leads about bodies buried in the Belle Plains Road area, Decatur said.
The remains, of what is believed to be of one person, were located between between March 23 and the 24 and were transported to the Chief Medical Examiner's Office in Richmond, Virginia for autopsy, officials said.
The body has been identified but the person's identity will not be released until the next of kin is notified, officials said.
The sheriff's office said it appears that the remains had been there for some time.
