CENTREVILLE, Va. (WUSA9) -- Fairfax County police say a 25-year-old Centreville, Va. man was charged after reportedly tailgating and striking another vehicle, then fleeing on the Fairfax County Parkway on Sunday.
According to police, Juan Carlos Gudiel, driving a Ford Explorer, allegedly tailgated then rear-ended a 2003 Honda, before pulling alongside the Honda and side-swiping it. Police say he then sped off. The driver of the Honda, however, was able to copy his license plate and call 9-1-1, according to police.
county police say Gudiel's Explorer continued onto I-66 westbound where Virginia State Police showed up. The car continued onto Lee Highway, where Gudiel reportedly ran a red light. Police say he turned onto Stone Road. Troopers were then able to stop him, according to police.
Gudiel was charged with reckless driving speeding to elude, disregarding a red light, resisting arrest, driving under the influence by the Virginia State Police. Fairfax County officers then charged Gudiel with attempted malicious wounding, felony hit and run, and driving on a suspended license.
