Francis 'Frankie' Maguire, charged with malicious wounding in Arlington, Va.
ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) - A student at Marymount University in Arlington is facing charges after police say he stabbed another student during an alcohol-fueled fight inside a dormitory.
Arlington County police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck says the 18-year-old victim received a gruesome but not life-threatening stab wound Friday night. He remains hospitalized.
Sternbeck says the victim and 20-year-old Francis Maguire got into a shouting match that escalated into a fistfight. He says Maguire tried to punch the victim, who landed a punch to Maguire's nose, breaking it. He says Maguire then pulled a pocket knife and stabbed the victim. The wound stretched from his lower left side around to his back.
Maguire has been charged with malicious wounding. Police say both young men had been drinking, as had many others in the dorm.
