Teenager Charged in Armed Robbery of Couple in Culpeper, Va.; Accomplice Also Sought

CULPEPER, Va. (WUSA) - A 17-year-old boy has been charged with armed robbery, according to Culpeper police.

The teenager was charged late Wednesday night with robbery, use of a firearm in commission of a robbery and conspiracy to commit robber , and police are seeking a second person who was involved in the incident.

At about 11 p.m. Wednesday,  a couple sat in a parked car in the cul-de-sac on Thomas Way when they were approached by two people who tapped on the driver's window. The 17-year-old, who allegedly was armed with a handgun, ordered the man and woman from the car and told them to lie on the ground.

The suspects then rifled through their pockets and the woman's purse and took several undisclosed items.

The suspects then ran into the woods toward Floyd T. Binns Middle School. Police searched for the two and located the 17 year old on Belle Ave. The second subject fled.

Police are looking for a black male, possibly a juvenile, last seen wearing a black hooded jacket with fur around the hood. He also wore black gloves with white writing and black shoes.

The 17-year-old is being held in the Blue Ridge Juvenile Detention Center in Charlottesville. No weapon was recovered.
