FAIRFAX, Va. (WUSA) -- A reported explosion at a NAPA Auto Parts led to the discovery of illegal fireworks on Sunday afternoon, say Fairfax police.

Twenty-four-year-old Christopher B. Simpson of Springfield and 28-year-old Andrew Tidd of Alexandria were issued summonses for illegal use of fireworks after police found fireworks had been detonated in a container at the back of the business on Fairfax Boulevard.

Police say one of the men detonated the fireworks and the second had the illegal fireworks, which were bought in Pennsylvania, in his car. Both Tidd and Simpson were found at the back of the store.
