WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- The Oscar winning director of "Slumdog Millionaire," Danny Boyle, has a new film out Friday. It's called "Trance."

James McAvoy plays an art auctioneer who hides a painting during an attempted robbery, but he's beaten up and can't remember where he put it.  In comes a hypnotherapist played by Rosario Dawson, but she has connections to the would-be art thief -- played by Vincent Cassel.

Most critics say even if you LIKE the franchise, Scary Movie 5 is a bad bet. The film was not screened in advance. Like its predecessors, Scary Movie 5 parodies recent horror hits like "Mama" and "Evil Dead" -- even though the latter opened just a couple weeks ago.

The movie getting the most buzz this weekend is "42," which tells the story of Jackie Robinson integrating Major League Baseball.

USA Today film critic Dennis Moore talked to us about the newcomer in the title role, Chadwick Boseman, who is a Howard University graduate and who worked really hard to perfect Jackie Robinson's swing. Moore also talks about Harrison Ford's portrayal of the Dodgers manager.

Moore's colleague, Claudia Puig, calls the movie "solid but no hall of famer." We asked him if he agreed. His answer is in the video.
