DENVER (KUSA) - A bartender tells the story of a terrifying experience she had inside JL's Cheers Pub.
Jessica Cuevas says she has been working at the pub for three years and knows mostly everyone who walks in. Tuesday night, Cuevas says a man walked into the bar like a typical customer and ordered a beer. She says it was a slow night, so she was able to take his order right away.
"It was a quiet night," Cuevas said. "I was actually playing around with my phone trying to pass the time. I looked up at him and he was looking at me and it really creeped me out."
Moments later, surveillance video from the pub shows the man pulling out a gun and demanding money from everyone inside. Cuevas says she gave him all the money from the register and other customers emptied their pockets before the man took off.
Denver police arrived and started investigating. The next day, Cuevas says she and her boyfriend went to the Ameristar Casino in Black Hawk to relax and take her mind off of the robbery.
"I couldn't sleep because of what happened, so he says lets got to Black Hawk, just me and you for a night," Cuevas said.
The quick getaway went well until Thursday morning. Cuevas says she and her boyfriend were waiting to take the elevator to the lobby of the hotel. She says she looked up and froze.
"Two other people walk up, and I immediately turn around. It was him. I'm sure it was him," Cuevas said.
She called Denver police to tell them she spotted the suspect, but by that time he was gone.
Police say they are reviewing surveillance video from the casino to determine if the man Jessica saw is the same guy.
Jessica says the suspect is a white male around 50 years old, 6 feet tall with a black and white goatee. Anyone with information is asked to call the Denver Police Department.
