ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA) -- Imagine being able to control some of the symptoms of autism by wearing a bracelet.

There are still so many questions when it comes to diagnosing and treating autism, but seniors at Thomas Jefferson High School have created a piece of jewelry that may provide some answers.

Their invention is getting the attention of parents and the autism community alike.

The bracelet records a conversation then analyzes it. Once this happens, a corresponding face icon shows up on the bracelet with the words happy or angry.

The students have received funding from Lemelson Foundation at MIT and others.

If their math works, a true breakthrough could take place in finding the missing piece of autism.

The students are already receiving positive feedback from local families and organizations like Autism Speaks.
