Gunnery Sgt. Ryan Jeschke, Staff Sgt. Sky R. Mote, & Capt. Matthew P. Manoukian Died In Afghanistan

WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- The Department of Defense identified three Marines who died in Afghanistan on Friday, August 10 supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Gunnery Sgt. Ryan Jeschke, who was assigned to 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion based out of California, was 31 years old and originally from Herndon, Va.

Twenty-seven-year-old, Staff Sgt. Sky R. Mote and 29-year-old, Capt. Matthew P. Manoukian also died in Afghanistan, and were identified by the Department of Defense on Monday.

Jeschke, a 12-year veteran of the Corps was a trained airborne parachutist and combatant diver. He also had a 1st degree Black Belt in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program.

All three Marines died while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.
