Alejandro Adolfo Rodriguez Arrested For Columbia, Md. Arson Fire

COLUMBIA, Md. (WUSA9) -- Howard County Police arrested 25-year-old Alejandro Adolfo Rodriguez, suspected of setting an apartment fire on Saturday. 

Officers responded to a call for a disturbance on Friday at about 9:30 p.m. on the 5300 block of Harpers Farm Rd. When police arrived they found a woman, who resides in the apartment, who had been assaulted by Rodriguez, police said. 

When officers began to approach the apartment, they encountered the suspect on the second floor who began shouting obscenities towards the officers, police said. 

Police noticed fire inside the apartment and proceeded to enter the building to arrest the suspect and put out the fire, police said. 

Rodriguez was fled out the window and was located on Saturday after an arrest warrant was issued, police said. 

Police said The Howard County Department of Fire evacuated building and 17 residents had to relocated by the Red Cross. No injuries were reported.

The arson investigation continues.
