5 Arrested in Charles Walker's Murder in Prince George's County; Derryck Green, Jermani Whitner, Glenn Leach, Tayvon Williams and Kevin J. Smith all charged with 1st degree murder

SUITLAND, Md. (WUSA9) -- Five people have been arrested in the murder of a 15-year-old in Prince George's County, police said. 

Derryck Antonio Green, 20, of Alexandria, Jermani Maurice Whitner, 18, of Temple Hills, Glenn Cornell Leach, 23 of Washington, Tayvon Delonte Williams, 21, of Oxon Hill and Kevin J. Smith, 21 of Temple Hills, have all been charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of Charles Walker, 15, of Suitland, police said. 

The motive was robbery on the night of February 18, in Hillcrest Heights, police said. 

The robbery was over a pair of shoes, Prince George's County Police Chief Mark Magaw said.

During a press conference, Chief Magaw said the teen was walking with a bag that contained new shoes when he was robbed and killed on Monday.

Police say officers responded to the 4000 block of 28th Avenue, near Kenton Street for a welfare check call. 

They found Walker on a front lawn in the 4100 block of 28th Avenue suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. Walker was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
